Northeast Wisconsin African-American Association

Green Bay, Wisconsin

The Northeast Wisconsin African-American Association was established in 1991. Originally, a group of African-Americans started meeting together for breakfast once a month at the Bay Family Restaurant in Green Bay. The purpose of the meeting was to share information about living in Green Bay.

Such things as where to get a hair cut or hair done, black hair products, how are the schools with respect to African-Americans, where to worship were some of the things discussed. As an outgrowth of these breakfast meetings, NEWAAMA was formed. Since then, NEWAAMA has been involved in a variety of different activities throughout

Mission Statement

To support the cultural, educational and socioeconomic needs of the African-American community and the ethnic diversity of Northeast Wisconsin, while maintaining a viable entity as the Northeast Wisconsin African-American Association.
